AETNA INSURANCE UPDATE/PRESCRIPTIONS/HEALTH VISITS/TRANSITION OF CARE - 05/05/2021

The Trustees are aware of deductible and out of pocket issues with the transition to Aetna from Cigna, and we are working to correct those issues.  Due to a delay of data files from Cigna to Aetna, those numbers are not currently visible in Aetna’s system. However, as we have said, ALL of the out-of-pocket expenses/deductibles will carry over! Aetna has assured us, ALL member data will be updated next week and if you have met your maximum, any out of pocket expenses you have incurred due to this error, will be reimbursed from Aetna.

Pharmacy/Prescriptions:

If you have been to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription since May 1st and are being asked to pay more than the normal cost, please give us a call!  The Fund Office will pull the most recent Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and send it to Aetna, who will manually enter the out-of-pocket expenses.  After you call, wait for 48 hours and go back to your pharmacy and you will be able to pick up your prescription at your normal cost.

***Any overpayment of prescriptions due to this issue, Aetna will automatically send you a refund check via CVS.***

Health Visits:

Any kind of visit that would be considered medically related per our plan – is not subject to copays. If you are being asked to pay anything out of pocket upon service, please call the Fund Office!

Transition of Coverage:

Also, please remember that if you have upcoming surgery/procedure scheduled within the next 2 weeks to contact Aetna Member Services @ 1-888-290-7241 to ensure transition of care is established.

The fund office phone number is (316) 264-2339; due to the high call volume, if you could leave your name and the issue you are having, we will make sure Aetna has the information needed from us to correct the problem. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we go through this transition! We apologize for any inconveniences and are working hard to fix the headaches some are having.
